Calling Quality: Mobile Phone Validation and Ground Truth Data

Over 90% of the world’s population now own a mobile phone, meaning that digital forensic investigations are almost certain to include a mobile device. As such, it is of paramount importance that mobile device examinations are consistent, correct, and compliant.

Mobile device validation works to assess the tools being used to examine mobile phones to determine their efficacy. Ground truth data is a crucial part of assessing these tools and producing effective results.
In this talk, Beth will delve into the process of creating ground truth data, sharing her experience of working with the Forensic Capability Network in the UK on a national project to discuss the best creation and use of ground truth data in mobile phone validation.
