After you purchase Magnet AXIOM, follow the steps below to install and set up the license server. 

Step 1: Download the Installation Guide 

The installation guide includes detailed information on how to install and configure the license server. 

Step 2: Request your license file 

The Magnet AXIOM License Server uses a MAC address from your server to ensure that the server is being run from a licensed machine. Before you install the server software, you must provide the MAC address for the server hardware that you intend to install the server on, and Magnet Forensics returns a license .bin file that’s tied to that MAC address. 

Step 3: Download the Magnet AXIOM License Server installer 

Log in to your account in the Magnet Forensics Support Portal to download Magnet AXIOM Cyber. If you don’t already have a Support Portal account, click Login > Register for access.

Double-click the installer and follow the instructions in the wizard to install v2.x of the Magnet AXIOM License Server and load the provided license .zip file. 

Step 4: Download Magnet AXIOM/AXIOM Cyber

After you install the server, you can start connecting your users by having them download the Magnet AXIOM software and obtain a license. 

We’ve updated the license server and it may be necessary to upgrade. To determine if you’ll need to download the new license server, find the server folder on your computer and compare it to the information below. By default, the server folder is located in C:\Program Files\Magnet Forensics\. 

• If your server folder is named AXIOM Network License Server and contains an axiomlsadmin.bat file, follow the steps below to update to the new license server.
• If your server folder is named AXIOM License Server and contains a flexnetlsadmin.bat file, you might already have the new license server installed. Open the install.log file In the AXIOM License Server folder and look for a line that reads:
  Running LS installer version 2.4.0.46
  If this line is present, you can either follow the steps below or manually load the license file (steps can be found on page 16 of the installation guide).  If you have an LLS license, you’ll be prompted to create a new Admin account, which will replace any existing accounts. If the line isn’t present, or it references a version prior to 2.4.0.46, proceed to the steps below.

The new license server includes an improved installation and activation process, greater reliability, and support for a broader range of licenses. Follow the steps below if you need to update your license server to the latest version.   

Step 1: Download the latest version of the Installation Guide 

The installation guide includes detailed and up-to-date information on how to install and configure the license server. 

Step 2: Find or request your new license file 

Before you can update your Magnet AXIOM License Server, make sure you have your new license file. When you renewed your license, you should have received a new license file from Magnet Forensics. If it’s been more than five days since you received your license file, contact Magnet Technical Support to receive a new one. 

Step 3: Download the Magnet AXIOM License Server installer 

Log in to your account in the Magnet Forensics Support Portal to download Magnet AXIOM Cyber. If you don’t already have a Support Portal account, click Login > Register for access.

Double-click the installer and follow the instructions in the wizard to install v2.x of the Magnet AXIOM License Server and load the provided license .zip file.
