Recover Evidence from Locked Android Devices with MediaTek Chipsets
It’s more challenging than ever to extract the relevant chat, picture and browser history evidence from smartphones. That’s why it’s critical to use a forensic tool that can bypass passwords and extract a full physical image.
AXIOM 2.2 introduces a new technique to bypass passwords and acquire a full physical image from Android devices that use MediaTek chipsets — covering 30 chipsets and over 1500 devices from multiple manufacturers.
Magnet.AI – Find Relevant Chat & Picture Evidence Faster
Magnet.AI was enhanced in AXIOM 2.0 to help better prioritize your time in an investigation by uncovering potential drug, weapon, nudity and CSAM images faster than with a manual review.
With AXIOM 2.2, Magnet.AI will now scan any artifact that contains image data, including chat and email attachments, web cache data and video thumbnails.
On top of the new capabilities, there are also significant performance enhancements to speed up the Magnet.AI image classification with internal testing showing speeds of up to 3 times faster than at launch. Magnet.AI also now supports NVIDIA GPU hardware, which will further increase the image classification speed by 2x.
Simplified and Expedited Memory Analysis
When examining a machine for malware, investigators will review key memory artifacts like malicious processes or DLLs to learn how the system was compromised. In AXIOM 2.2, examiners can now export key memory analysis evidence like process executables, DLLs, process memory and VADs into other tools for further analysis — which are automatically hashed by AXIOM.
AXIOM also now supports the latest functionality in Volatility – including the addition of new profiles for x64 and x86 Windows 10 build 17134, giving you the option to perform memory analysis on the latest Windows 10 software builds.
New Artifacts to Ingest
As more data is stored in the cloud, examiners need to have the tools to review cloud evidence. That’s why AXIOM was built to ingest the zip file generated from a Google Takeout (takeout.google.com). With AXIOM 2.2, you can now ingest the following new artifacts: My Activity, Chrome Bookmarks, Location History and Google Hangouts.
In addition to these cloud-based artifacts, AXIOM 2.2 provides support for Skype 8 (on iOS & Android), Gmail conversations, and OpenOffice.
Examine Performance Improvements
We’re always looking for ways to make AXIOM faster and easier to use. Thanks to the significant performance improvements we’ve brought to AXIOM Examine since 2.0, you’ll see a reduction in:
- Case open time
- Content load times
- Time to re-apply a previously applied filter
- Time to apply stacked filters
- Time to select all items in a view
- Time to add/remove a tag
- Stutter when scrolling through thumbnails
