See the story of your geolocation data with Magnet Review’s Worldmap View
Magnet Review empowers your investigative team members – both inside and outside your organization – to securely collaborate and review digital evidence from any of your data sources, and from anywhere in the world.
One critical source of digital evidence in today’s investigations is geolocation data. Examination of mobile devices like smartphones can yield a wide variety of GPS-source information and this information can be invaluable to investigators, enabling them to track suspects and victims through their mobile devices and potentially leading to faster and more accurate case resolutions.
To help you see the full story of your geolocation data, we’re excited to share that Review now includes a new and highly anticipated evidence view: Worldmap View! Worldmap View provides you with an intuitive, visual way to review geolocation data so you can more quickly and easily see the story it tells.

Easily uncover geolocation evidence across all your sources
Alongside Review’s Artifact and Conversations Views, Worldmap View provides a means to view multiple digital evidence items with associated geolocation data directly on a map, including the ability to search and filter based on GPS coordinates, addresses, source device, artifact types, and more.
First, you’ll now see a new summary card in the Case Dashboard called Top locations. This card provides a handy list of the top geolocations associated with your source data that serves as a useful jumping off point for your investigations.
With the Top locations card you’ll see geolocation data arranged by frequency and address, with visual clusters highlighted on the map. As with other conventional digital maps, you can interact with the Top locations map view directly to see specific location clusters, zoom in or out, or toggle between traditional map and satellite views.
When you apply filters in Case Dashboard – evidence sources, for example – you’ll see that filter applied to the Top locations card, helping you to further narrow your search results.
Clicking on the locations list will take you directly to that location in Worldmap view, where you’ll now be able to more easily see and interact with your geolocation data.
You can now search by address or GPS coordinates, which can be extremely useful in uncovering specific evidence items associated with a known location – the scene of a crime, for example. You’re also able to use the Artifacts summary pane to quickly filter and search by artifact categories and types.
When viewing specific items on the map, you’ll then see a summary card that highlights important information like the artifact type, source device name, type, and model, and the associated time stamp. You’ll also be able to see if this item has any associated tags or comments from other reviewers. From here you can navigate to the artifact by opening the Details page, where you’ll now also see an interactive map pane along with the rest of the artifact’s key information and allow you to easily tag or comment on it.
