The latest version of Magnet AXIOM Cyber, 5.3, is now available!

Faster and More Accurate Support for Email 

With our updated support of the EML(X) artifact, we noticed both massive time savings and greater accuracy when compared with previous versions of AXIOM Cyber.  

Based on our own internal testing of AXIOM Cyber 5.2 vs. AXIOM Cyber 5.3, let’s take a look at a comparison to show the time-savings achieved. 

The test image scanned was a whopping 13.5 GB single log file containing: 

• 134,583 EML(X) files 
• 379 email attachments 
• 5,681 people identifiers 

In AXIOM Cyber 5.2, when that image was scanned it unfortunately took over 24 hours to get through just half the file. Ain’t nobody got time for that. 

In AXIOM Cyber 5.3, when the same image was scanned, it successfully completed in under one hour! 53 minutes and 18 seconds to be exact. HUGE! And in further testing of other files, we noticed the larger the file, the greater the time savings. 

Not only did we dramatically improve the speed, we improved the precision of evidence recovery from EML(X) files. Recovery for header, body, and attachment fragments is improved and when getting evidence from unallocated space, email boundaries are now better respected to prevent accidental stitching.
