Magnet Forensics Raises Funds for the Canadian Centre for Child Protection
Fundraising will help support programs to combat online child sexual abuse and exploitation
Magnet Forensics, a global leader in the development of digital forensic software, has raised more than $27,000 (CDN) for the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, a registered charity dedicated to the personal safety of all children.
Throughout 2016, the Magnet Forensics team hosted several fundraisers, culminating in an annual Charity Golf Tournament in support of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.
“The work that the Canadian Centre for Child Protection does is vitally important to today’s children and to everyone’s future, and we are very proud to support this organization as one of our key Canadian charities of choice,” said Adam Belsher, CEO of Magnet Forensics. “Magnet Forensics was founded on a number of core values, including passion and making a difference. In this fundraising effort, our team has shown their dedication to these values and their support of organizations working to protect those who cannot protect themselves.”
In 2002 The Canadian Centre for Child Protection was a pioneer in promoting public participation in child protection when it introduced Cybertip.ca, Canada’s tipline for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children.
This week, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection launched a tool to combat the proliferation of child sexual abuse material on the Internet. Project Arachnid is an automated crawler that detects images and videos of illegal content and helps reduce the online availability of this type of material. “The Canadian Centre for Child Protection thanks Magnet Forensics for their incredible efforts to support our agency,” said Lianna McDonald, Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection. “Given the role of technology in online crimes against children, it is critical that we continue to fight fire with fire and advance our efforts to protect children online. Magnet Forensics’ ongoing support helps us make the world a safer place for our children.”
