Introducing the Magnet Certified Authenticity Examiner (MCAE) certification
We’re proud to announce the launch of a new Magnet Forensics certification program: the Magnet Certified Authenticity Examiner (MCAE)!
When your word can make or break a case, your credibility is vital. Without a way to demonstrate your mastery of digital forensics, it can be harder to defend your findings and present them with full confidence.
The MCAE certification is an accreditation that demonstrates an examiner’s expert-level competence in using Magnet Verify for media authenticity analysis. This certification showcases expertise to peers, internal stakeholders, and external audiences, including legal teams and clients. Certification is free for users who have completed the prerequisite training courses.
Why MCAE matters
As the digital landscape evolves, the need for highly skilled professionals to authenticate digital evidence has never been greater. With the rise of sophisticated cybercrime, artificial intelligence, and challenges to the chain of custody, organizations require specialists who can:
- Ensure the authenticity and integrity of digital evidence.
- Detect and address potential tampering or manipulation.
- Provide expert testimony and documentation that withstands legal scrutiny.
MCAE certification equips examiners with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet these challenges head-on, helping to maintain trust in digital investigations.
How to get certified
The MCAE certification process includes:
- Taking the DV150 (Media Authentication and Analysis with Magnet Verify) training course: You will need to complete our DV150 course (or previously completed training from Medex Forensics), which provides hands-on instruction with real-world case scenarios. The course is available online and at Magnet Forensics’ new training facility in Tysons Corner, VA.
- Writing the free MCAE certification exam: Pass the MCAE certification exam, which tests your knowledge and practical skills in evidence authenticity.
