Accelerating investigations with AI using Magnet Copilot in Magnet Axiom
Across almost every industry, advances in AI have been prompting changes that are having major effects on digital forensic examinations. While the rapid development and availability of AI can be leveraged for malicious purposes, it can also level the playing field to give examiners another tool to help them keep pace with the explosion of data in investigations.
Magnet Copilot adds advanced AI capabilities to Magnet Axiom Premier and Magnet Axiom Cyber giving forensic professionals another tool to overcome the overwhelming volume of evidence in cases and quickly surface relevant evidence in their investigations.
Using AI for good
With our large digital footprints, the overwhelming volume of digital evidence in cases can be a persistent problem. Magnet Copilot leverages the power of AI to add the ability to quickly find relevant evidence with an easy-to-use Q&A function.
To make use of this function, you simply identify conversation data or web searches and then ask questions about data through the Magnet Copilot chat-style interface to help highlight artifacts that might be relevant to your case. Responses provided through this interface include citations for the case data to validate the results or investigate further.
The AI capabilities of Magnet Copilot especially shine with contextual searches of data. While keyword searches yield valuable results, the search strings need to be exact to capture all of the potentially relevant information. With searches done using the Q&A feature of Magnet Copilot, the context of the search string is taken into account, so even if there aren’t direct results related to the term, there can be adjacent hits that could have otherwise been missed with standard keyword searches.
The power of offline AI
To ensure the AI capabilities of Magnet Copilot are available to as many Axiom users as possible, Magnet Copilot was developed to run on examiners’ workstations even if they are not connected to the internet or cannot upload case data to the cloud.
Processing with Magnet Copilot is done locally on your machine for all of the data you are examining instead of uploading individual files to the cloud, as you would with a cloud-hosted solution. With Magnet Copilot you can process all evidence at once to start applying the power of AI to your case, helping you quickly highlight potentially relevant evidence for further investigation
We have worked to ensure the offline model could be run on a standard workstation CPU that can run Magnet Axiom. So, no GPUs or advanced workstations are required to use these capabilities.
The Founding Principles of AI at Magnet Forensics
At Magnet Forensics, we are committed to developing AI tools that uphold the highest standards of transparency, fairness, and ethical responsibility.
Our Founding Principles of AI serve as a living document, guiding how we build and integrate AI into our software. These principles ensure that AI enhances—but never attempts to replace—human judgment, while safeguarding privacy and maintaining the integrity of investigations.

We understand AI-assisted tools aren’t something everyone can leverage so we’ve made sure you have full control over if and when AI is used in your case. If AI isn’t something you’re interested in or able to leverage at this time, you can choose to not load or enable the Magnet Copilot functionality in Axiom.
Getting your Copilot onboard
Magnet Copilot is included with Axiom Premier licenses only. To start using Magnet Copilot in Axiom for yourself, update to the latest version of Magnet Axiom, or request a free trial of Axiom, and follow the prompts to install Magnet Copilot.
We initially introduced Magnet Copilot as part of an early access program with availability in all Axiom tiers, but with the launch of Axiom 9.0 we are including access to Magnet Copilot exclusively in our Axiom Premier licenses.
